While there Sophie gets involved in a mystery where other Dark Witches are being attacked. Hex Hall is a school of magical deliquents, those students of non-human nature who just can’t seem to control their powers. Sophie Mercer is a witch and when a love spell she does for a friend goes horribly wrong, her dad decides her punishment will be to transfer her to Hex Hall. The narrator did an excellent job of distinguishing between character voices. Sophie sounds exactly like I would imagine her to.

I listened to this on audiobook and the audiobook was very well done. I especially enjoyed Sophie’s quirky sense of humor. There isn’t a lot special here but the book was generally well written and well done. This is the first book in the Hex Hall trilogy. You will enjoy it P.S The narrator is good too! P.S.S I did hear that there is a bit of love triangle in the second installment :/ Proceed at your own risk. I recommended Hex Hall to those who love YA paranormal but are sick of the love triangles and super angsty brats that haunt ever single page. Who am I kidding I read every single Vampire Academy book which means I am in fact a glutton for punishment. Hex Hall is a refreshing reminder that, 'it doesn't have to be this way!' I have not decided if I will be moving on to the next installment or not but I am glad I got to meet this one. Too often YA paranormal books are so angst ridden and weird you feel the need to take a shower afterward. There is a bit of mystery and the book never takes it self too seriously. Sophie is a smart, funny character that you can't help but love. Yet I still picked it I don't know maybe I am a glutton for punishment. It looks like the same dull story line I have already read and hated a billion times. Hex Hall was a book that at first glance had everything stacked against it.
